General Information
Approximately 1 million people live in Bohol, about 100.000 of them in the capital city of Tagbilaran. Bohol (the main island) has a coastline of 330 km and an area of 3800 square kilometers and is the tenth largest of over 7000 islands of the Philippines
Panglao Island is the largest neighbor and connected with two bridges to Bohol. Distance from the airport in Tagbilaran City to the famous Alona Beach on Panglao Island is 25 km only.

Visa and Money Requirements
Tourists arrive in the Philippines on Tourist status visa, with a valid visa for 30 days. Visas will be extended for the following period of 29 days and then periodically every 59 days at the Bureau of Immigration Office, located in Tagbilaran City. Payments are accepted by the country’s currency Philippine Peso (PHP).
BOHOL GUIDE recommends a cash reserve in pesos for the first few days upon arrival, changeable at the Money changer Office at Airports. In Tagbilaran City are many ATM machines accepting major bank cards as well as on Alona beach.

The Chocolate Hills, listed as one of the Seven Wonder of the Philippines, with more than 1200 hills are located around the towns of Batuan, Carmen, Sagbayan, occupying an area of 50 square km in the middle of the island. BOHOL GUIDE recommends buying a local SIM -Card from SUN Cellular, Globe or Smart Telecommunication Systems for your mobile phone, available at all malls. SIM cards are available for less than 40 Pesos and one message getting charged 1 peso and for a local call only 7 pesos per minute. For international text messages, the charge is 20 Peso.
For Internet users, most resorts, hotels, and restaurants provide a WIFI Internet connection. Small and large Internet cafes are available everywhere. In Tagbilaran City are all mayor post offices located, as there is a local Post office, LBC, FED-EX, and others.
